The title is purposefully this way around, with self before spirit for one reason only; we need to deny ourself first before we can receive the Holy Spirit.
Back in the video in the #1 post it describes self to be our identity, personality and character. Daniel explains there are 6 factors of the soul and one of which he named ‘Evil’ and described it as being the dwelling place for sinful nature and evil spirits. But, I prefer to call this factor ‘spirit’ instead.
We will begin by talking about ‘self’ and how we can use this to take care of our souls. We will then talk about spirits and most importantly how to receive and live by the Holy Spirit, according to the will of God.
Self
So who are you?Â
Some people struggle with knowing who they are. If this is you, then use the prompts below.
Taking these questions into account can help you discover who you really are and you can use the answers to know what is is you need when taking care of yourself. Similar to self care. But knowing these can help you be true to yourself and where to go, what to do, that will give you longer lasting satisfaction.

What does God say about you and who you are?
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Psalm 139:13-14 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
Romans 6:6 We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.
We are made in His image. But this last one, reminds us that our old self is gone, we are new in and through Christ Jesus. But He has made each one of us wonderfully. Though, I know sometimes, we need to remind ourselves and affirm that we are exactly this. We can continue to do this through reading and meditating on His word. You can also check out these declarations to remind yourself exactly who you are, according to what God says about you.
Spirit
We are also the dwelling place for spirits and this is how our nature is formed, according to these.
Now, in the secular world, some believe in spirits and others don’t. Some know of what types of spirits there are others are not so sure. Now those who are born again are born with a new spirit, the one and only Holy Spirit. I could talk about the different types, as with my past (former self, before knowing Jesus) I’ve had dealings with different kinds and have been delivered from these.Â

Each and every one of us are all homes for the Holy Spirit. This means we can speak, listen, connect, be guided by and enjoy His Holy Spirit in us.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
1 Corinthians 3:16 Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?
Romans 8:11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
Ephesians 3:16 That according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being,
Galatians 5:16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
