Comfort and Joy are two sensations or feelings that we can experience over the Christmas season.
But we don’t always feel this way. We have expectations (society & media have a massive impact on this!) Perhaps you feel alone or literally be alone at Christmas. You may experience disappointment. Perhaps, having to isolate, not see family, miss the train, or Christmas day isn’t quite how you had hoped, the list can go on. These experiences can bring us down and fill us with disappointment. We are human after all!
But! Remember you have been given the gift of Jesus! With Him comes the gift of comfort and joy.
That song ‘God rest ye merry gentlemen’ says:
God rest ye merry gentlemen
Let nothing you dismay
Remember Christ our Savior
Was born on Christmas Day
To save us all from Satan’s pow’r
When we were gone astray
Oh tidings of comfort and joy

This song is telling us that we don’t have anything to dismay or worried about anything because we have been saved by Jesus dying on the cross for us.
This may be easier said than done!
But by keeping your eyes on God, knowing that Jesus is within you and that you are or can be filled with the Holy Spirit you will also be filled with the gift of comfort and joy that the Holy Spirit has for you. So turn your focus on Him and experience the special kind of rest, comfort and Joy that only God can bring.
Meditate on his word and the following verses to remind yourself of what scripture says about comfort and joy and to know them in your heart and spirit.
