Here are 5 Biblical ways to relieve stress. We all experience stress at some point in our lives and over the Christmas season can be no exemption, especially with societies expectations. We see through all media, at how Christmas “should” look and go and we can easily fall short of pandering to these expectations. Got to buy the tree, put up decorations, do the Christmas shopping, write endless Christmas cards, clean, cook the list goes on! These “expectations” and busyness can lead us to forgetting the real & true meaning of Christmas. It is important we remember why Christmas came about in the first place, all those years ago, Jesus Christ our saviour was born. He came into the world for you! He came to give you peace! Therefore, It makes sense we turn to Him to relieve that stress. Check out the tips below for Biblical ways to relive stress this season.
This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all.
1 Timothy 1:15
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
Biblical Ways to Relieve Stress
1/ Prayer
Ultimately, God wants a relationship with us, and how do relationships work? Through communication. So, through prayer, we’re talking to Him & listening to what He says too. By doing so, we can share with Him our worry & stress. He sees it, He knows, but He wants you to speak to Him too. Not forgetting to give thanks too! Thank Him for the goodness thats around you, thank Him for previously answered prayer thank Him for what Jesus came into the earth to do for you.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Phil 4:6
2/ Praise
When we are praising the Lord, giving thanks and worshipping Him, we won’t have any space left in our minds to feel or be stressed. Therefore, simply put, praise is a great Biblical way to relieve stress. Next time you’re feeling that stress creep in our even in the midst of it, whack on that worship music. Our focus can’t be on two things at once, so actively change that focus of attention to Jesus.
3/ Biblical Meditation
Take time out to simply sit & be with the Lord. Even just 5 minutes out of your day (you can meditate as long as you like!) But even a few minutes in the hustle and bustle will keep to relieve any stress you’re carrying and turn your focus back to Jesus. 4/ STOPP!
This exercise helps when you’re in the middle of a stressful situation or heightened stress levels.
Stop, Take a breath, Observe, Pull back & Practice.
Stop whatever you are doing wherever you are & take a timeout!
Breathe- focus on your breath.
Observe the situation- what is happening? Who is about? Where are you?
Take a step back/ sit down/ get out of the way/ move to a different area, if possible.
5/ Biblical Mindfulness
Is Mindfulness Biblical? Yes, it can be! Let’s see… As you go about your day, keep an eye out for everything that God has made and give Him thanks for it. Even better, made time to sit with it, in it or looking at it, really appreciating the beauty around you, everything God made in creation. For instance; the sky, clouds, sun, sea, trees, greenery, flowers, plants, animals, the list, again, is endless! It’s also being mindful of the Trinity, engage with, sit with & enjoy the company and presence of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Relieve that stress & step away from the hustle & bustle for a bit this Thursday!
