In last weeks post Keep watch & be ready we read on Matthew 25, Revelation 19 & Revelation 21. We spoke on Jesus’ return and the need for us to keep watch and to be ready for when He comes. This is important, especially as we don’t know when His return will be!
So I decided not to leave it there and in the facebook group I went live on ‘How to Keep Watch & Be Ready.’
It is now on the Youtube Channel, in case you missed it! (Click the video below)
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Just make sure you stay alert. Keep close watch over yourselves. Don’t forget anything of what you’ve seen. Don’t let your heart wander off. Stay vigilant as long as you live. Teach what you’ve seen and heard to your children and grandchildren.
Deuteronomy 4:9 (MSG)
Therefore watch yourselves very carefully, so that you do not become corrupt and make for yourselves an idol, an image of any shape, whether formed like a man or a woman, or like any animal on earth or any bird that flies in the air, or like any creature that moves along the ground or any fish in the waters below. And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon and the stars—all the heavenly array—do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshipping things the Lord your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven.
After you have watched the video here are a few questions for you to think about:
- How? Where are you looking? What is your focus on?
- What thing do we, as a nation, idolise and put before God?
- So how, now can you go and “get ready,” what can you do today?
