Dealing With Doubt and Confusion can be a regular occurrence in this day and age, but what does the bible say about it?
“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”
1 Corinthians 14:33 KJV
“Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?””
Matthew 14:31 NLT
We see right here in the scriptures that confusion does not come from God and doubt comes from a reduced or lack of faith.
So doubt and confusion will come from your own mind that can be instigated by the enemy or from your own understand (or lack of), other people or all three.
These verses then suggest that peace and faith will override doubt and confusion is. In order to get rid of confusion turn to the peace that comes from the Holy Spirit, God in you. Then to get rid of any doubt in your life, you will need to improve and increase your faith. Check out the details on how to deal with each below to help you to increase your own faith and experience of peace. Because no matter what happens in life, no matter how bad it gets, “you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)
Things in life you may doubt or be confused about:
- Faith
- Salvation
- Jesus as the Son of God and your saviour
- Gods ability/ plans/ will
- God Himself (Father/ Jesus/ Holy Spirit)
- The church
- Other people/ believers
- Own identity in Christ
- Your own ability/ purpose
- The Word of God (Creation, His promises, Eternity etc.)
- And possibly more!
How to deal with doubt:
- Don’t rely on your own insight or understanding (Pro 3:5)
- Put your trust in the Lord (Psa 115:11 & 37:3, Isa 26:4, 40:31)
- Fix your thoughts on God, turn your thinking and focus onto Him. (Prob 4:25, Psa 119:18, Rom 12:2, Phil 4:8)

When you do these not only will you be able to overcome and deal with doubt and confusion but God will bring you out of darkness too!

John 12:46 NLT
On top of all this the Lord will help, rescue, protect you and keep you safe. You will enjoy faithfulness, love, peace and the company of fellow believers. The Lord will help you and provide you with the strength that you need, and you will experience real joy and peace too!

Thanks so much for this encouragement. This is certainly an area that Satan attacks me in. I’m learning to be more aware of it, so I can quickly avoid the trap. But sometimes it gets me.
Thank you for pointing us back to the Truth, dear friend! God is indeed our refuge and safe place. I love the balance you share about our role….and also trusting God!
