Feeling unloved?

Are you feeling unloved?

Are you wanting to experience a love that is ultimate, pure, never- ending and unwavering?

Most of us do!

Do you believe that this is even possible?

Whether you are married, in a relationship, with kids or without or if you are single and feeling alone. You CAN experience this type of love!

I used to long to be loved by someone,  someone who respected me,  some one who wanted an equal relationship, someone to put the world to rights with! But most importantly someone that loves God before themselves and before me.

Your probably wondering one of two things right now:

  1. Where’s she going with this, I thought this is about meditation and love?

Or

2. That’s what I want, I’m feeling unloved too!

Right? Then read on.

Last year, just as new years was approaching I began asking these questions. At the same time I had another bout of illness- well, as a result from this I had concussed myself badly, (post concussion syndrome according to the doc) I had a continuous migraine for 6 weeks and was unable to do any work or look at any screens!

I was questioning what God was doing, as was trying to finish and publish ‘Christian Based Cognitive behavioural Therapy ‘ But I couldn’t even look at a screen for the pain. But through prayer, and listening to Him, I heard Him say to me, “Be still, know me, draw closer.”

I was already doing the usual; regularly praying, worship, reading devotionals, but He wanted more of me. So I began bible in one year, and turned up the praying a few notches; started keeping a prayer book, who to pray for etc, began journalling and included prayers and scripture in it and as I did, I wanted to know Him more and more, I was drawing even closer to Him and it was amazing! Check out ‘New Year, New You, same God’.

By doing this I soon discovered how much he  really does loves me.

You can discover this too, if you don’t know already, that is.

How to life in freedom

I know, I know…we read over and over in the bible how much He loves us, but the mind knowledge of this had gone to and filled my heart. I finally knew in my heart that I was loved.

Do you know this in your heart yet?

Now, yes, I know it would be nice to meet a partner to love and be loved back, but right now i’m not yearning for that, is not the Lords timing and I can honestly say that I have accepted that, not in a bitter way but in a way where I already feel loved. And so, if and when it happens it will be in His timing and according to His will and that’s exactly how I want it and how it should be!

But being loved isn’t about this human love- it has to begin with God! The first commandment tells us this (Matt 22:34-40).

Are you feeling unloved right now?

Here a few verses to remind you of His love for you. Use these verses to focus on, study and meditate on so you may turn that mind knowledge of scripture and God’s love into heart knowledge, that real knowing in your your heart. Check out this guide on How to Practice Biblical Meditation, if you’re not sure how.

Scriptures For When You Are Feeling Unloved?

John 3.16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 8.37-9 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Feeling unloved?

Isaiah 54.10 Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

Ephesians 2.4-5 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-it is by grace you have been saved.

1 John 3.1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

Psalm 136.26 Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.

Ephesians 5:1-2 Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

If we walk in this way and follow in His example, as we are told in Ephesians 5 and the other above verses, then not only will we begin to accept His love (if we haven’t already) but we will truly understand His love for us too. Then we can even start to love ourselves as well!

Let us know in the comments, how meditating on scripture helps you, as this will help to encourage others.

  1. Yes, God’s love is truly amazing! I had to come to that point as well when I was single. I realized that although I didn’t know much about romantic love, I did have experience with other kinds of love, God’s love being chief among them. Happy Valentines Day to you!

  2. This is a great reminder that God loves us unconditionally. When we truly embrace God’s love, only then can we appreciate life and loving others; including ourselves. Love is shown in many ways; whether in a relationship or not but one thing that will never fail is God’s love for us and that conquers all!

  3. Hi Lauren. Thank you for the reminder that God’s love is the best love of all. Thank you for sharing. God bless.
